Golden Door

This officially marks the return of the “Around the Block” photoblog that I failed so miserably at a couple of years ago. This time around I hope to be a lot better about getting at least one image a day up. So without further ado here is “The Golden Door”. Without the context of the rest of the wall it’s impossible to tell how utterly alone this door looks with only the lone poll to keep it company, however, due to the narrow alley where this pair is located I was unable to capture the breadth of the entire scene.
The Bridge Doth Curve

Sometimes you just need to go for a walk. I was coming back from running a few errands and I noticed there was a new overpass going up near my house. Normally this would be no big deal except for the fact that I live in the downtown area and an overpass like this seemed to me to be a little pointless. Never the less I decided to stroll down to the job site with my camera and check it out. Pointless was kind of an understatement as the bridge went from one side street to another and couldn’t have been any longer than a few hundred yards long. Anyway, here’s one of the several exposures I made while wondering through the site.
We are small amongst our accomplishments.

The lone construction worker pales in comparison to his great works, if not for them our society would be vastly different.
A Whole in the Wall

Sometimes, if you just look, you can see a lot in a simple wall.
Blue Window

Another simple wall. Yet for some reason, I keep coming back to it.
Downtown LA

In celebration of my return to the Left Coast I bring you a shot from last year’s trip. Here you can see pretty much all of the skyscrapers that make up the downtown LA skyline. So for now that is all and my next post should be coming to you live from the other side of the country.
Hollywood Bowl

For the next several days we’ll take a look through some of the images captured during my recent return visit to the left coast. Although this trip didn’t seem as fruitful as the first there were still a few keepers captured.
Here we start off with a view from the nose-bleed section of the Hollywood Bowl. You may remember seeing the bowl in the opening of the Looney Tunes cartoons.
